In a significant stride towards enhancing electoral transparency and voter participation, District Commissioner Smti Nirola Phangchopi announced the release of the Draft Photo Electoral Roll for 2024-2025. The announcement, made during a press conference, highlighted the district’s proactive measures in line with the directives from the Election Commission of India. Among the attendees were key officials, including ADC Sri Chandan Borgohain, the ACS Election Officer, DIPRO, and representatives from various media outlets.

The Draft Photo Electoral Roll 2025 is a pivotal document, marking 01.01.2025 as the qualifying date for voter eligibility. Citizens are encouraged to actively participate in the democratic process by reviewing the draft and submitting claims and objections concerning voter inclusion, modifications, or deletions. The window for filing these claims and objections is open from 29.10.2024 to 28.11.2024, with the final publication of the Electoral Roll scheduled for 06.01.2025.
For public convenience, the draft electoral roll is readily accessible at all polling stations and the Election Branch of the District Commissioner’s Office in Karbi Anglong during office hours. This transparency is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring that every eligible citizen is accurately represented.
Reflecting on the changes from the previous roll, the current draft indicates a total voter count of 520,224 in the district, marking a net increase of 0.57% since the last publication on 08.02.2024, which preceded the Parliamentary Election. This increase includes 257,739 male voters (a 0.45% rise) and 262,484 female voters (a 0.68% rise), indicating a positive trend in voter registration and engagement.
Breaking down the updated voter demographics by legislative assembly constituencies reveals 152,973 voters in Bokajan, 187,725 in Howraghat, and 179,526 in Diphu, with each region experiencing varying levels of voter growth. These figures underscore the district’s commitment to ensuring all eligible voters are included and have a voice in the democratic process.
The pre-revision efforts undertaken were extensive, encompassing house-to-house verifications, rationalization of polling stations, and addressing discrepancies in the voter list. As a result of these diligent efforts, 23 new polling stations have been added across the district, with specific additions in Bokajan, Howraghat, and Diphu. This expansion aims to enhance accessibility and streamline the voting process for the electorate.
District Commissioner Smti Nirola Phangchopi emphasized the importance of public participation, urging all registered voters to verify their details in the Draft Photo Electoral Roll 2025. Claims and objections can be filed in person at the Election Branch or through digital platforms, including the BLO and Voter Help Line apps, or online at www.voters.eci.gov.in. Forms available for voters include Form 6 for new registrations, Form 7 for objections to inclusions or deletions, and Form 8 for address changes, corrections, or EPIC replacements.
In a call to action for Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Smti Nirola Phangchopi stressed the need for diligence and thoroughness in visiting villages to ensure the accuracy of voter data. Such efforts are vital for achieving a comprehensive and error-free electoral roll for the district, thereby ensuring that all eligible citizens are properly represented in the upcoming elections.
