After receiving an invitation from the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council to hold a discussion on the 19th of February regarding the eviction of unauthorized occupation of PGR-VGR lands in Karbi Anglong, the ASDC Youth Front and the Karbi Students’ Association, which faced an attack by miscreants last Thursday in Kheroni of West Karbi Anglong, have temporarily suspended their protest activities.
The leaders of the organizations mentioned in a press conference held at the central office of ASDC in Diphu that, following discussions with the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, there will be a meeting on February 20th involving leaders from all parties, student bodies, and social organizations in Karbi Anglong.
The protest organizations have stated that if the discussions with the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council are not successful, they will resume their peaceful democratic protests. They have clarified that there has been no official shutdown declared in Karbi Anglong, and the stoppage of activities has been spontaneous.
