
In a meticulously planned operation, the Lahorijan police made a significant breakthrough on Thursday afternoon, seizing heroin worth approximately ₹1.4 crore from a woman in the vicinity of Hanuman Temple. The raid, executed around 2:20 PM, underscores the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies to curb the drug menace in the region.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nitul Saikia swiftly mobilized to intercept the suspect. The woman, identified as 34-year-old Farida Khatun from Bokajan Dumukhia, was apprehended while she was seated at the Jadav Hotel near Hanuman Temple. Upon a thorough search of her person, the officers discovered 12 soap boxes containing the illicit substance.
The confiscated heroin weighed a substantial 206.88 grams, with an estimated market value of ₹1.4 crore. This haul represents a major blow to the drug trafficking networks operating in the region. The operation was conducted in the presence of Bokajan Sub-Division Police Officer (SDPO) Rustamraj Brahma and independent witnesses, ensuring transparency and adherence to legal protocols.
The seized heroin has been taken into custody under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police are continuing their investigation to uncover further links and collaborators involved in this drug trafficking operation. The prompt action and collaboration between different units highlight the effective coordination within the police force.
The successful raid was spearheaded by ACP Nitul Saikia, with vital support from Sub-Inspectors (SIs) Biman Chetia and Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) Pankaj Saikia along with other staff members from the Khothkhoti Police Station. Their collective effort and prompt response were instrumental in this significant bust, showcasing their dedication and commitment to public safety.
