The second phase of voting scheduled for the 26th will commence with election officials and workers setting out on Wednesday morning for 201 voting centers in the 6- Diphu (ST) Parliamentary constituency. Departure for the remaining voting centers will start from tomorrow, as has been made known. Meanwhile, the district administration has ensured stringent security measures at each polling station.
To ensure smooth and secure voting, police, commandos, and central security forces have been deployed, as informed by the Assistant Electoral Officer of the district, Chandan Borgohain. Notably, in the 6th Diphu (Scheduled Tribe) Lok Sabha constituency, there are a total of 1217 polling stations.
For the second phase of the elections on April 26, the candidates from the constituency are BJP: Amarsing Tisso, Congress: Joyram Engleng, ASDC: Jotson Bey, APHLC: John Ingti Kathar, and Gan Suraksha Party: John Barla Changma. The total number of voters in the constituency is 893,058, with 445,353 male voters, 447,686 female voters, and 19 third-gender voters. In East Karbi Anglong, there are 512,324 voters, with 254,479 male voters, 257,827 female voters, and 18 third-gender voters. There are a total of 651 polling stations.
In West Karbi Anglong, the total number of voters is 225,206, of which 113,278 are male voters, 111,927 are female voters, and there is 1 voter from the third gender. There are a total of 312 polling stations. In Dima Hasao, the number of voters is 155,259, with 77,327 male voters, 77,932 female voters, and no voters from the third gender, across a total of 253 polling stations.
