NALBARI : Nalbari town today witnessed a massive protest today as thousands of students and common people come out to the streets to protest the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 which was passed at Lok Sabha on Monday.
The Nalbari College Unit of AASU and AJYCP took out a protest rally this morning from the college campus.Later the protest rally was joined by the common people of the town and blocked the Hajo Nalbari Road just before the Nalbari Police Station.The protesters completely paralysed the movement of vehicular traffic for two hours.
The protesters also burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,Home Minister Amit Shah,Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and raised slogans against the CAB and BJP Government.Meanwhile the students of Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University also blocked the NH 31 at Ganesh Mandir Chawk.
The police also failed to disperse the protesters and hundreds of vehicles have been stranded till the filling of this report.The protesters also shouted slogans against the CAB and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for his surrender before the centre.The Nalbari Zilla Mahila Samiti also protest the CAB.They also staged a sit in demonstration in front of their office today.
