Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday directed officials to make elaborate arrangements for celebrating the country’s upcoming 75th independence Day in a grand manner.
The Chief Minister held a meeting with senior officers of the civil and security administration from police, army and air force and asked them to prepare blueprints for a three day celebration from August 14 to 16. August.
The celebrations should be thought of and executed in a way to evoke nationalism and patriotism and enable people to appreciate the ethos associated with Independence Day, he said.
All out preparations should be made to enable people from all sections of the society to celebrate the occasion and help the young generation to connect with the rich heritage of the country and the unparalleledsacrifice made by freedom fighters.
He also said that the security forces on the occasion should also put up their show to involve people so that they can also express their love for the country.
Government buildings would be illuminated aesthetically and patriotic songs will be played across the state in the run up to the Day.
Sarma also asked Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah to hold a meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners to plan the celebrations in their respective districts.
