
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, local police apprehended a trafficker in Khathkhati, located in the Bokajan sub-division of Karbi Anglong district, on Saturday morning around 10 AM. This operation was part of a routine checkpoint search, which yielded impressive results in the fight against the illegal drug trade.

The successful operation was led by Bokajan Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rustamraj Brahma, alongside Assistant Sub-Inspector of Khathkhati Police Station Biman Chetia, Jitumanai Saikia, and Officer-in-Charge Swamadhan Swargiary from the Karagaon Police Outpost. The police team conducted a thorough search at a checkpoint positioned in front of the Khathkhati SBI Bank, demonstrating their commitment to combating drug-related crimes in the region.
During the checkpoint search, law enforcement officials unearthed a staggering 4.899 kilograms of morphine concealed within seven packets, ingeniously hidden inside a secret compartment of a truck. The vehicle in question bore the registration number UP 38 6178 and was reportedly en route from Manipur to Uttar Pradesh.
The heroin seizure has been linked to an individual named Faim, identified as the son of a resident from Kalon Chambal in Uttar Pradesh. Authorities estimate the market value of the confiscated drugs to be around a whopping ₹5 crore, underscoring the significant impact of this operation on the local drug trade.
