The three-day Zubeen Divas commemorative programme concluded on September 19 at Zubeen Kshetra, a year after the death of beloved singer Zubeen Garg. Thousands of people gathered at the venue to pay tribute through music, prayer, and cultural performances over the course of the weekend.
The commemorative event began on September 17 and drew large crowds throughout its duration. On September 18, cultural programmes were organised throughout the day, attracting fans and well-wishers to Zubeen Kshetra to honour the singer’s memory.
The final day, September 19, saw ‘Mayabini,’ one of his popular songs, echo across the venue as mourners remembered Zubeen in their own distinct ways. Some gathered to sing his songs, others offered prayers, and several played musical instruments in his honour. The tributes reflected the deep affection and respect the public still holds for the artist and his music.
On the concluding day, Bhagawat Naam and other religious activities were held throughout the day. A Bhaona performance was scheduled for the evening, set to begin around 6:30 PM and continue until approximately 9 to 9:30 PM, adding a traditional cultural element to the farewell.
The three-day programme brought together people from all walks of life to remember Zubeen Garg through music, prayer, and cultural performances, marking one year since his passing and underscoring the lasting impact his legacy continues to have on Assam’s cultural landscape.
