Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Friday, September 18, that Assam Police had foiled an alleged attempted infiltration along the state’s border, claiming they intercepted 10 individuals who reportedly entered India with “ulterior motives.”
In a post on social media platform X, Sarma stated that the 10 people were “first copy” versions of characters from the Bollywood film Dhurandhar. He did not elaborate on what he meant by the term or provide any specifics about the identities of those detained.
“10 First Copy of Dhurandhars tried to infiltrate into India with ulterior motives and disturb our social harmony,” Sarma wrote on X. He went on to credit the Assam Police for swiftly responding to the situation, writing, “Assam Police promptly moved in as the Real Hamzas and prevented this misadventure along the border. We remain alert, ALWAYS!”
Sarma captioned his post with the phrase “10 Ka Dum,” meaning “ten of them,” alongside a fist emoji, in a tone that appeared to convey a sense of strength and resolve.
The chief minister’s claims come amid heightened concerns over border security in the northeastern state, which shares a lengthy and porous border with Bangladesh. However, no evidence, identifying details, or further verification of the alleged infiltration has been made available by the Assam government.
The Assam Police have yet to issue an independent statement confirming or elaborating on Sarma’s claims. It remains unclear whether any formal cases have been filed or whether the individuals in question have been detained or released.
The film Dhurandhar, which Sarma referenced, is a forthcoming Bollywood action-thriller. His use of its characters as metaphors drew attention on social media, with many users reacting to the unconventional way of describing the border security incident.
