In a significant military operation on Wednesday, an armed encounter in New Samtal village, located in Khenjoy tehsil near the India-Myanmar border in Chandel district of Manipur,at least 10 militants were killed in an armed encounter with a unit of the Assam Rifles. The Eastern Command of the army reported that the operation is still ongoing.
They stated that the operation began based on information regarding the theft of essential items on May 14, 2025. During the operation, suspected militants opened fire on the army, leading to a clash between the two sides. In this gunfight, 10 militants were killed, and a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered.
