The Guwahati Police have apprehended Robin Das, the main suspect in the gruesome gang rape of a woman in Boragaon, bringing the total number of arrests to eight, while one suspect remains on the run. The video was reported to the Garchuk Police Station at 2:30 AM by a local journalist, prompting swift police action. Under the leadership of Inspector Mayurjit Gogoi and Sub-Inspector Kajal Dutta, the police launched overnight search operations in the Garchuk and Jalukbari areas, leading to the earlier arrests of seven suspects. Those detained include Kuldeep Nath (23), Bijoy Rabha (22), Pinku Das (18), Gagan Das (21), Saurav Boro (20), Mrinal Rabha (19), and Dipankar Mukhiya (21).
Investigators reported that one of the perpetrators, who was known to the victim, coaxed her into the isolated location, leading to the attack.
