In a significant operation on Tuesday morning, Dialai police in Karbi Anglong District, apprehended two suspected drug traffickers and seized an impressive haul of heroin valued at approximately 8 crore rupees. The operation unfolded around 7:40 AM during a routine checkpoint located in front of the old Lahorijan forest beat office.

The suspects, identified as Rahidul Islam and Nur Alam from the Goalpara district, were driving a six-wheeled Tata vehicle with the registration number AS 28 AC 1322. The vehicle was reportedly en route from Manipur to Guwahati when police officers conducted a routine inspection that led to the discovery of a substantial stash of illicit drugs.
Upon thorough examination of the vehicle, authorities uncovered 95 packets of suspected heroin meticulously concealed within the toolbox. Weighing in at an astonishing 1,140.58 grams, the seized heroin is estimated to have a market value of around 8 crore takas, according to reliable police sources. This seizure marks one of the most significant drug busts in the region, highlighting the persistent issue of drug trafficking that plagues various parts of India.
The two suspects have been detained for further questioning as police seek to unravel the broader network involved in the heroin supply chain. Investigators are keen to gather additional intelligence that could potentially lead to more arrests and a deeper understanding of the trafficking operations linking Manipur to Guwahati.
