In a significant breakthrough, Chirang Police have apprehended five individuals from Madhya Pradesh in connection with the largest burglary ever reported in the Bongaigaon Refinery Township of Dhaligaon. The suspects, all residents of Dhar district, have been identified as Guddu Mahoniya (30), Patal Singh (33), Gangu (29), Chhotu (29), and Ganpat alias Ganesh (39).
The audacious heist took place on the night of July 21, when the culprits made away with gold, silver, and cash valued at ₹2.5 crore. They managed to loot 14 houses within the high-security confines of the refinery township. The incident stunned officials and residents alike, raising serious concerns about the robustness of the refinery’s security protocols.
Following an intensive two-month investigation, the Chirang Police succeeded in capturing the notorious gang, bringing relief to the refinery’s employees and the larger community. The employees’ union expressed their appreciation for the police’s diligent efforts. However, they called for a more exhaustive probe to unearth any additional members involved in the heist and to ensure the recovery of the stolen assets.
This arrest marks a critical step in addressing the security lapse and restoring confidence among the refinery’s workforce. The police’s success in cracking the case underscores the importance of vigilant law enforcement and collaborative community efforts in combating such bold criminal activities.
