The Capital Police Team, spearheaded by Sub Inspector Samuel Ngupok, has successfully apprehended a fugitive child rapist who had evaded trial for six years. The arrest, achieved with the collaboration of Constables Sandeep Yadav, Lobsang Gyatslan, and Lady Constable Arty Degu, as well as the District Detection Team under SP Capital’s oversight, marks a significant triumph for law enforcement.

At 1400 hours, the Special Team located and arrested Rajesh, alias Gour Kishor Singh, in Guwahati. Rajesh had been implicated in Itanagar WPS Case No-49/16, charged under Section 376(2)(i) of the IPC, alongside Section 6 of the POCSO Act. The case is presently undergoing trial before the Special Judge (POCSO) in Yupia.
The suspect had been a fugitive since 2018 after being released on bail following his initial 2015 arrest for sexually assaulting a minor. With the help of both technical and human intelligence, the Capital Police Team succeeded in bringing him to justice.
This arrest marks the second noteworthy success for the Capital Police Special Team. Earlier, they had apprehended Majibur Rahman, who had been on the run for 11 years following his escape from Jully Jail. Rahman was wanted for the heinous rape and murder of two sisters in Akashdeep, Itanagar.
This successful operation highlights the Capital Police Team’s dedication to justice and their effective use of intelligence resources.
