Two individuals, including a jawan from the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), tragically lost their lives while rescuing others during the recent floods in Tripura. Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha shared the heartbreaking news on X, paying tribute to Ashish Bose, a TSR jawan from Belonia in the South District, and Chiranjit Dey from Indranagar in the West District.

In his message, Chief Minister Saha expressed profound sadness, honoring the courage and selflessness of both men. He extended his deepest condolences to their families, emphasizing that their sacrifices would continue to inspire acts of bravery and courage. “Their selfless act will never be forgotten,” he noted.
Notably, All India Congress Committee leader and MP Rahul Gandhi also expressed his sorrow over the tragic deaths. On Facebook, Gandhi wrote, “Extremely pained to learn about the tragic loss of two brave jawans during the rescue operation of Tripura flood. Their selfless service, courage, and sacrifices will always be remembered. My deepest condolence to the bereaved families. The nation stands with them in these difficult times.”
Amidst this tragedy, the state has intensified its flood relief efforts, dispatching thousands of aid packets to assist those affected.
Both leaders underscored the importance of remembering the valor of Ashish Bose and Chiranjit Dey, whose ultimate sacrifices exemplify the highest standards of service and dedication.
