Two healthcare workers from Sikkim have garnered national recognition by being invited as special guests to the 78th Independence Day celebration at the Red Fort in New Delhi. Glorymit Lepcha, an Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife at the Turuk Health & Wellness Centre, and Tara Subba, an ASHA worker at the Phongla Health & Wellness Centre, have been celebrated for their exceptional dedication and contributions to healthcare.

This notable invitation underscores the profound impact Lepcha and Subba have had on public health within their communities. Their relentless efforts have not only improved healthcare delivery but also set a benchmark for others in the field. In a ceremony that will honor their achievements, both workers, accompanied by their spouses, will be recognised for their substantial role in enhancing public health services.
Their story of commitment and service will be highlighted during the prestigious national event, bringing well-deserved attention to their indispensable efforts and the vital role of grassroots healthcare workers.
Sikkim’s Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay’s recent inauguration of the Indrani Bridge over the Teesta River further emphasizes the state’s dedication to infrastructure development, paralleling the strides being made in healthcare by devoted workers like Lepcha and Subba.
