In a monumental stride against the burgeoning drug menace, law enforcement agencies in the Barak Valley region of Assam have executed two major anti-narcotics operations. The seizures have not only underlined the region’s severe drug trafficking issues but also showcased the relentless efforts of the authorities in combating this menace.

In the first of these high-stakes operations, the Special Task Force (STF) Assam and Karimganj Police collaborated to intercept a significant consignment of narcotics. The operation, carried out at the Karimganj Bypass, resulted in the seizure of a staggering 3,50,000 YABA tablets and 1.3 kilograms of heroin. The total worth of the confiscated narcotics is estimated to be around ₹115 crore.
Four individuals were apprehended in connection with this haul. The specifics of their identities and their roles in the drug trafficking network are currently under investigation. The successful interception of such a massive quantity of narcotics underscores the meticulous planning and execution capabilities of the STF Assam and Karimganj Police.
Parallelly, in a separate but equally significant operation, Cachar Police conducted a raid that culminated in the seizure of 18,000 YABA tablets. The consignment, valued at approximately ₹5.5 crore, was intercepted at Kathal Road in Silchar. One individual was apprehended in connection with this seizure, and preliminary investigations suggest that the drugs were being transported from a neighboring state.
This operation highlights the pervasive nature of drug trafficking networks that exploit interstate routes to smuggle narcotics. The vigilance and swift action of Cachar Police have undoubtedly disrupted a critical supply chain.
