On July 22, law enforcement agencies successfully carried out a meticulously planned and executed operation, intercepting a vehicle carrying a significant amount of heroin near the Naojan CDH point. This operation was led by the Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Golaghat and involved collaboration with various units, including SDPO Dhanisir, OC Chungajan, staff from Sarupathar Police Station, and the C Coy 155 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Based on confidential information, a checkup was set up at the designated location. Around noon, a vehicle with the registration number AS 23 N 7587 approached the checkpoint. During a thorough inspection, authorities discovered a hidden compartment under the vehicle’s footstep on both sides. This secret compartment contained 60 packets of soap cases filled with heroin, weighing a total of 711.93 grams. Three individuals were arrested in connection with the drug haul.
The suspects have been identified as Rajkumar Chetry (35) and Debraj Chetry (38), both sons of Krishna Bahadur Chetry from Makum Pathar, Mergherita, Tinsukia, and Nagen Bora (35), son of Lakhikanta Bora from Changkhati, Kalyanpur, Merapani, Golaghat.The value of the seized drugs was estimated to be more than ₹4 crore.
