Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will preside over the 7th apex-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Center (NCORD) on October 18th in New Delhi. During the meeting, Mr. Shah is set to launch the National Narcotics Helpline, ‘MANAS’ (Madak Padarth Nisedh Asuchna Kendra), and inaugurate the Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) zonal office in Srinagar. Additionally, he will release NCB’s ‘Annual Report 2023’ and the Compendium on ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat.’

The meeting aims to synchronize and enhance the collaboration of various central and state government agencies in combating drug trafficking and abuse across India. The Home Ministry highlighted a three-pronged strategy to attain a drug-free India by 2047, emphasizing the strengthening of institutional structures, improved coordination among narcotics agencies, and extensive public awareness campaigns.
Mr. Shah’s initiatives, such as the launch of the helpline and the inauguration of new NCB infrastructure, are critical steps towards enhancing the national framework against narcotics. The Annual Report 2023 and the Compendium on ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ are expected to provide valuable insights and data, reinforcing the government’s commitment to this cause.
