A rare species of pangolin has been recovered from a house in Shitalabari, Diphu town. The pangolin was seen roaming around the Sitlabari area in diphu town for the past two days, but was not approaching anyone.
Last night, the people of the house saw the pangolin sitting in a house in Sitlabari with its head covered. Then, with the help of some local youths, they were able to bag the pangolin.
Later this morning, the youth handed it over to the Forest Department’s Panbari Range Forest Office, and the Forest Department released the pangolin in a protected area of ââthe forest.
The local youth who rescued the pangolin have called for the protection of any unique species of endangered species. It is worth noting that this is the first time that the rare pangolin has been seen in the region.
Pangolins, often called ‘scaly anteaters’, are a unique nocturnal mammal, famous for being the only mammal in the world whose entire body is covered in tough scales.
