
In a bold move that signifies the rising demand for indigenous rights and recognition, tribal organizations from Karbi Anglong have organized a major protest to press for the implementation of Article 244(A) of the Indian Constitution. The rally, which depicts a unified stand of over a hundred prominent tribal groups, has garnered significant attention from political and social circles, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding tribal autonomy and heritage.

Earlier today, tribal leaders and representatives from the Diphu regions of Karbi Anglong started their journey towards the national capital, Delhi, with a determined purpose—their aim to advocate for the formal enforcement of Article 244(A), which pertains to the administration of tribal regions and the recognition of tribal self-governance.
The protest was initiated by organizations including the Diphu Tribal Youth Association KANCHASDOM, KSA,DSU, and other indigenous groups from the region. As the procession moved through various districts, it drew widespread attention and support from local communities, highlighting the deep-rooted desire for constitutional acknowledgment and the preservation of their unique cultural identities.
According to reports, the journey culminated at the Delhi junction, where the leaders were to participate in a demonstration scheduled to take place at the Parliament’s premises on December 15th.
This event is expected to feature over a hundred top tribal leaders and representatives, including distinguished figures such as Ajit Timung, Ching Timung, Khorsing Terang, and other prominent personalities from the tribal communities of Karbi Anglong.
