The Assam government has approved Special Casual Leave for state employees attending the 94th Annual Session of the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha. This major religious event will take place at Mohbondha Araltoli Field in Jorhat on February 6, 7, and 8, 2025. The General Administration Department specified that only Sankardev Sangha delegates are eligible, contingent on fulfilling their official duties. Employees involved in Panchayati Raj Institution elections and Flagship Programmes need their superiors’ approval to avail of this leave.

Expecting a turnout of 3 to 3.5 million devotees, this session is poised to be one of the largest spiritual gatherings in the region. Preparations for the event are almost complete, covering 1,200 bighas of land. The construction includes expansive pavilions made with roughly 72,000 bamboo poles from Karbi Anglong and over 9,000 tin sheets. A dedicated team of more than 200 laborers has been working tirelessly for nearly two months to ready the venue.
This assembly underscores the cultural and religious significance of the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha’s annual session, drawing devotees from across the region to partake in this spiritual congregation.
