In a joint operation on January 16, Assam Rifles, along with the Police and Tripura Forest Service, destroyed cannabis plantations valued at approximately Rs 3.5 crore. Conducted in the Kathalia region under Jatrapur Police Station, Tripura, this meticulously planned operation targeted large-scale illegal cultivation sites. Spanning around 110 acres (44.5 hectares), the effort led to the eradication of approximately 90,000 cannabis plants.

Assam Rifles officials emphasized that this significant crackdown underscores their dedication to battling the drug epidemic and shielding the area from its detrimental effects. They highlighted the vital role played by local administrative support, which underscores the importance of a unified approach in facing drug-related issues. The operation is seen as a pivotal step towards establishing a drug-free community and ensuring a safer future for the region.
This initiative reflects a broader commitment to drug prevention, and the collaboration between security forces and local authorities demonstrates an effective strategy in tackling such challenges.
Additionally, Tripura is set to advance its law enforcement capabilities with the introduction of AI-based control rooms and drone technology, as announced by Chief Minister Manik Saha. This development is aimed at enhancing efficiency and responsiveness in police operations, further contributing to the safety and security of the area.
