The STF has continued its operation against jihadists in the state. A jihadist has been arrested from Joypur in Nampara, Kokrajhar. The arrested jihadist is named Abul Zahar SK. A large quantity of weapons has been recovered from him, including four handmade guns and 34 rounds of ammunition.

A total of 24 empty cartridges and explosive materials have been recovered. In relation to jihadist activities, Assam Police’s SDGP Harmit Singh addressed a press conference on Wednesday. During the press conference, SDGP Harmit Singh stated, “Assam has been protected from the imminent threat of jihadist attacks. They were planning an IED attack.”
The SDGP Singh stated that the jihadist group had undergone weapons training, saying, “We will not allow any harm to the country.” He noted that the jihadists had prepared explosives using firecrackers from Diwali. He also mentioned that there are connections between the jihadists and Bangladesh and Pakistan, and that they had planned attacks in the Northeast and other parts of India. Additionally, Harmit Singh commented that the influence of jihadists had spread throughout the entire country.
