On Tuesday evening, chaos unfolded at Jaipur International Airport as an IndiGo Airlines flight from Kolkata made an urgent emergency landing after receiving a bomb threat. The flight, numbered 6E-394, was ferrying 183 passengers when the pilot was alerted to the potential threat shortly before the scheduled landing at 5:19 pm. Demonstrating calmness under pressure, the pilot promptly coordinated with air traffic control to secure a safe landing at the designated Tango Taxi Area by 5:14 pm. This area, situated slightly away from the main runway, is used for isolating aircraft in case of emergencies.
The moment the plane landed, a swift operation was set in motion by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to investigate the threat. They cordoned off the aircraft within a 100-meter radius to ensure the safety and security of all passengers on board, promising a secure evacuation following thorough checks.
This incident adds to a series of recent bomb threats at Jaipur Airport. On October 15, a different emergency landing was orchestrated for a flight traveling from Dammam to Lucknow due to a similar bomb scare. Just four days later, on October 19, yet another flight approaching Jaipur from Dubai had to make an emergency landing, again in response to a bomb threat.
While no actual explosives have been discovered to date, these recurring threats have raised alarms over aviation security protocols, demanding stricter measures to safeguard passengers, crew, and airport staff. Meanwhile, passengers aboard the recent Kolkata flight, though anxious, lauded the pilot and ground staff for their swift and effective response during the tense situation.
