As Assam celebrates Durga Puja, the festive spirit has been dimmed by a spate of tragic road accidents throughout the state. In Guwahati’s Zoo Road, a serious collision involving a four-wheeler and a scooty left a young woman critically injured.
The local community swiftly brought her to GMCH for urgent medical care, and police intervened to manage the ensuing unrest. Meanwhile, a fatal motorcycle accident occurred in Golaghat as Biren Thakur was struck while crossing the road to enjoy the Puja festivities. The motorcyclist, Lohit Pradhan, suffered severe injuries and was hospitalized.
In Barpeta, a motorcycle crash claimed the lives of Nishant Pathak and Kishan Sharma when their bike collided with a railing. The tragic incident happened as they headed home after participating in the celebrations.
Another devastating accident unfolded in Bongaigaon’s Jogighopa, where a vehicle in a wedding procession lost control during a U-turn, resulting in the death of Ziarul Haque and injuring several others. Additionally, in a separate accident in Jogighopa, cyclist Gautam Rabha died after being struck by a motorcycle. His life ended while en route to receive medical attention.
