Mizoram is facing severe disruptions in fuel and essential goods transportation due to halted train services and deteriorating national highways. Since August 21, train services have been suspended as floods and landslides severely damaged the Bhairabi-Sairang railway route. Railway engineers are working around the clock to restore service as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, road transporters have also suspended operations owing to the poor condition of National Highway-306 and National Highway-6 between Kawnpui and Khamrang in Kolasib district. Truck drivers cite the dangerous road conditions, which pose life-threatening risks and increase the likelihood of fuel spillage, as the reason behind their decision.
The transport disruption has led to fuel shortages in the state capital, Aizawl, and other towns. The Mizoram Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department advises the public to remain calm, assuring that the state government is making extensive efforts to repair the damaged sections of the national highway.
These combined issues have exacerbated the logistics crisis in Mizoram, necessitating urgent infrastructure improvements to restore normalcy.
