Suspected militants launched a bomb attack in Manipur’s Bishnupur district early Friday morning, causing damage to at least two structures, according to police reports. Rockets were fired from elevated positions in the Churachandpur district’s hill areas, aimed at the low-lying residential neighborhood of Tronglaobi, approximately 45km from Imphal, the state capital.

Police estimated the range of the rockets to have been more than 3 kilometers. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, though a local community hall and an unused room sustained damage.
In addition to the bomb attack, suspected militants also fired multiple rounds toward Bishnupur district. This escalation prompted security forces to return fire.
The tension in the region had already been heightened on Thursday night when several drones were observed hovering just under 100 meters above Kumbi village, located a few kilometers from Tronglaobi, according to eyewitness accounts.
Local authorities are continuing their investigations to determine the full extent of the attacks and to enhance security measures in these vulnerable areas.
