
Security forces in Manipur carried out a significant operation on August 26, arresting six members of the banned group, Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), in Awang Potsangbam, Imphal West District. The detained militants were identified as Oinam Naocha Meitei (26), Tharoijam Nanao Meitei (25), Yumnam Amit Kumar (38), Sandam Roshan Meitei (24), Moirengthem Boy Singh (41), and Waribam Ibomcha Meitei (35).

During the operation, authorities seized a substantial cache of items, including three scopes, three rounds of live ammunition, a tube launcher empty case, a four-wheeler, six mobile phones, military fatigues, and various other items.
In a follow-up action, police raided additional locations, recovering more arms and ammunition. The confiscated items included a single-barrel gun, a DBBL gun, two live cartridges, three loaded AK-47 magazines with 75 live rounds, five empty M-16 rifle magazines, 230 assorted live rounds, seven wireless walkie-talkie sets with chargers, military fatigues, a laptop, and a hard disk.
On the same day, in a related but separate incident, Manipur police arrested Konsam Romesh Meitei (43), a member of the banned UNLF (Koireng) faction, from Heingang Makha Leikai in Imphal East. He was reportedly involved in extortion activities targeting brickfields. From his possession, police recovered two mobile phones, a wallet, and a two-wheeler vehicle.
These arrests and recoveries signify a major crackdown on militant activities in the region, sending a strong message against insurgency. Law enforcement agencies are continuing their efforts to dismantle militant networks and ensure public safety.
