On Saturday, the Manipur Police rescued a 22-year-old youth who had been kidnapped and arrested eight people in relation to the case, as reported by the Press. Imphal West Superintendent of Police, Ksh Shivakanta Singh, stated that Laishram Chinglen Singh had been taken from the DM College of Science New Boy’s Hostel on Friday afternoon.
Shivakanta said, according to a reporter, that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of ₹15 lakh from the parents of Laishram for his safe release. A complaint by the youth’s parents was filed, and Imphal West District Police conducted searches at different places.
In the early hours of the morning, a police team raided Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai in Imphal West district and successfully rescued Laishram from the home of Asem Chaoba (63). Furthermore, the Manipur Police recovered a Ghatak rifle, an AK-47 rifle, one .32 pistol, ammunition, and 13 mobile handsets from those apprehended.
