Assam Police have arrested a person accused of making communally charged statements against women from Rajasthan, an official said here on Tuesday.
He has been brought to Guwahati already and will be produced before the court on Wednesday, she added.
ACP (women unit) Bhanita Nath of All Women’s Police Station here said that a suo motu case was registered against the accused in her police station as well as in Rajasthan, from when he hails.
“The case was taken on the basis of statements he had made against women that were communally incited in a social media post,” she said.
A team of Assam Police, with the help of their Rajasthan counterparts, apprehended the accused, she said.
He has been brought to the state today and will be produced before the court on Wednesday, Nath added.
