On May 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of their Statehood Day, highlighting the state’s serene beauty, rich cultural traditions, and industrious citizens. In a post on X, PM Modi remarked, “Warm greetings to the people of Sikkim on their Statehood Day! This year, the occasion is even more special as we mark the 50th anniversary of Sikkim’s statehood! Sikkim has made strides in diverse sectors. May the people of this beautiful state continue to prosper.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also shared his best wishes, emphasizing the state’s accomplishments in organic agriculture and tourism, which have been made possible through the hard work and hospitality of its people. He expressed his hopes for Sikkim’s continued prosperity in a message on X, stating, “On Sikkim Day, extending my best wishes to sisters and brothers of Sikkim. Cradled in the Himalayas, Sikkim has set benchmarks of excellence.”
Sikkim, India’s second smallest state, achieved full statehood on May 16, 1975. Since then, it has emerged as a leader in sustainable development and ecological initiatives. Union Minister and BJP National President J.P. Nadda joined the celebratory messages, expressing, “My heartfelt greetings to all my brothers and sisters of Sikkim. Sikkim is not only gifted with breathtaking scenic beauty but is also home to dedicated people contributing to the nation’s progress. May Sikkim continue to script new chapters of success.”
Piyush Goyal, another Union Minister, also shared warm greetings, recognizing Sikkim’s significant progress in tourism and sustainability.
