The rescue of a contractor’s dead body from the railway department in Borlangfer, under the Borlangfer police station in Karbi Anglong district, has created a sensation. The body of a businessman named Ratan Dutta, who had been abducted from the Borlangfer area on December 19, was recovered today by the Karbi Anglong police from a deep forest in the Dhanshiri protected area.

The Superintendent of Police for Karbi Anglong district, Sanjeev Kumar Saikia, stated in front of the media that a railway contractor named Ratan Dutta mysteriously went missing on the night of December 19. After the contractor was reported missing, his family filed a complaint at the Borlangfer police station, leading the police to register a case number 06/2024 and begin an investigation. Notably, during the investigation, the police confirmed that contractor Ratan Dutta had been kidnapped.
Ratan Dutta was kidnapped, and the abductors demanded money from his family through WhatsApp. The police quickly launched an operation and detained Sana Singh, a former member of the DNLF extremist organization, on suspicion of involvement in the case. During interrogation, Sana Singh and several other members from Golaghat, along with a former DNLF member named Kargil, confessed that they had kidnapped and murdered Ratan Dutta.
The police superintendent stated that the murder was carried out due to a personal feud involving Ratan Dutta and his associate, Sinha. He mentioned that the incident took place in the dense forest of the Dhanshiri-Daldali protected area, and that the police were informed late about Dutta’s disappearance, which hindered their efforts to rescue him alive. The superintendent reported that six individuals, including Sinha and Kargil, have been arrested in connection with the case, and the investigation is ongoing. He also claimed that more arrests related to this incident are expected. Meanwhile, the police have sent Ratan Dutta’s body to the Diphu Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
