
On Police Commemoration Day, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya honored the sacrifices of police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

Addressing a gathering at the 4th Assam Police Battalion in Kahilipara, Governor Acharya emphasized the immense courage and dedication of the fallen officers, highlighting their role in safeguarding the nation. He underscored that their sacrifices serve as an inspiration and a poignant reminder of the bravery needed to protect the motherland.
Meanwhile, the Frontier Headquarters and 1st Battalion Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in Sonapur also observed the day, paying tribute to 213 personnel who died while on duty from September 1, 2023, to August 31, 2024. Among them were SSB personnel CT(WC) Ramesh Kumar and CT(GD) Sahadeb Barman.
The commemoration also marked the sacrifice of 10 CRPF men ambushed by Chinese troops at Hot Springs, Ladakh, on October 21, 1959. The event featured a wreath-laying ceremony and Shok Shastra drill, led by Chief Guest Sudhir Verma, IG, Ftr Guwahati, at the Martyr’s Memorial.
Dignitaries present included DIGs B.S. Jaswal and H.B.K. Singh, along with other senior officers, collectively affirming that the nation will always remember the sacrifices of these brave individuals.
