On Sunday evening at around 6:30 PM, Assam Police successfully apprehended two suspected drug smugglers along the Assam-Nagaland border in Lahorijan. Acting on a tip-off, the Khatkhati police set up a checkpoint near the Lahorijan gate. During the operation, police stopped a Yamaha MT motorcycle without a number plate, traveling from Gautam Basti towards Lahorijan.
The rider, identified as Jamal Hussain (28) from Dimapur Burma Camp, was found in possession of 14.60 grams of heroin hidden in two soap containers. The combined efforts of the police and local village defense forces led to this significant seizure.
Following Jamal Hussain’s confession, the police then detained Abdul Kadir (37) from Lahorijan New Basti. This coordinated effort involved several key police officers, including Officer-in-Charge of Khatkhati Police Station Nitul Saikia, Bokajan Circle Inspector Nava Saikia, Sub-Inspector Amarjyoti Sharma, and Bhiman Chetiya, along with other station staff.
