On Friday morning around 10 o’clock, there was a report of a teenager’s death due to suspected food poisoning in Diphu after eating puffed rice. According to available information, Babusingh Bey, a resident of Rongchingri village located five kilometers along the Diphu-Lamding road, bought puffed rice and jaggery from the Diphu Power House daily market yesterday evening. That evening, Bey’s three sons ate the puffed rice and jaggery and then had dinner about an hour later.

After some time, Babuching Boro’s three sons, namely Sonsing Boro (15), Digenchan Boro (14), and Waisong Boro, fell ill with symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea. The youngest son, Waisong, passed away this morning. Meanwhile, the eldest son is currently in the ICU at Diphu Medical College, and the middle son is receiving treatment in the medicine department.
Their father, Babuching Boro, suspects that food poisoning is the cause of the three teenagers’ illness. Vidyasing Tiso, the chairman of the market committee, has ordered the closure of the shop and noted that it did not have a trading license. The market committee has stated that the administration will take legal action regarding this matter.
