
Security forces in Manipur arrested two individuals in possession of a large cache of arms and ammunition in Phaitol Village, Tamenglong District on July 8, during a search operation and area domination exercise. The detainees, identified as Lunjakap Guite and Kaplal Singson, were found with two SBBL guns, one .303 rifle, and one Pumpi bomb.

In similar operations, authorities recovered a country-made single barrel gun, three improvised heavy mortars (locally known as Pumpi bombs), four live 70mm cartridges, three empty cartridges, and two mortar empty cartridges from YC Hill, Saikot Village, Churachandpur District. Additionally, a sweep of the Hill Range in K Lhangnom Village, Kangpokpi District, yielded a carbine machine gun with a magazine, two locally-made 12-bore guns, a .303 magazine, a HE-36 hand grenade, two 80 WP smoke grenades, a stun grenade, a Baofeng radio set, 21 live rounds of ammunition, and nine blank rounds.
Meanwhile, the movement of 212 and 145 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively, carrying essential items, was successfully secured. Security personnel in Manipur have ramped up strict measures in all vulnerable locales, providing convoys in sensitive areas to ensure safe vehicle movement.
A total of 118 Nakas/checkpoints have been set up across various districts, both in the hills and valleys. Police have also detained 85 individuals in connection with these enforcement actions. The ongoing stringent security efforts aim to maintain peace and safety in the region.
