Police operation in Karbi Anglong : i20 vehicle with heroin worth seven crore rupees seized, supplier arrested.During a routine checkpoint inspection near Khokrajan on National Highway 39, police flagged down a Hyundai i20 bearing the registration AS-02-Q-3449. The vehicle, which was headed from Lahrijan towards Golaghat, underwent a thorough search. To the officers’ surprise, hidden within 90 soap boxes, they discovered 1005.15 grams of heroin ingeniously concealed.
The heroin was ingeniously packed inside specially crafted secret chambers located beneath the front seats of the vehicle. This meticulous concealment not only highlights the lengths to which traffickers will go to transport narcotics but also underscores the challenges law enforcement faces in intercepting these hidden cargos.
The street value of the seized heroin is estimated to be at least seven crore INR, representing a significant financial impact on the drug trafficking network operating in the region. Following the seizure, the police arrested Amir Hussain from Hojai district’s Morigaon. Hussain is believed to be a key player in the supply chain of narcotics across the state.
The superintendent of Karbi Anglong Police, Sanjiv Kumar Saikia, along with Deputy Superintendent Jayant Barua, were present at the site, coordinating the operation and subsequent investigations. The interrogation of the detained supplier continues as authorities aim to dismantle the network linked to this drug haul.
