In an attempt to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of East Karbi Anglong, the troops of renowned Red Horns Division of Indian Army organised Karbi Traditional Games in collaboration with East Karbi Anglong Arts and Cultural Society from 06-07 Jan 2020 at Diphu under the aegis of CHINDITS Brigade. Mr Mukul Kumar Saikia, DC, East Karbi Anglong presided over the Closing Ceremony conducted on 07 Jan 20.

The event witnessed participation of Six Club teams from entire Karbi Anglong district and was conducted at Karbi Arts and Cultural Society Stadium, Taralangso. Traditional Games conducted in various categories are as under Hambi Kapathu, Kengdong Dang Kekap , Lang Pum Sok Chan,Baptheli Keâap.

As a mark of salute to the services and sacrifice of Veterans of Indian Army, an ESM Rally was also clubbed with the cultural games to address the concerns of ESM hailing from East Karbi Anglong. Number of stalls from various welfare agencies of army and civil administration were also set up at the venue to facilitate and educate veterans. A med centre with doctors from army and district hospital has also been established on the occasion.

Mr Mukul Kumar Saikia, DC, EKA (East Karbi Anglong) rewarded the winners and runner ups of the games with trophies, medals, cash prizes and also felicitated Veer Nari and Disabled War Veterans of the district.

The overall aim of the event is to increase awareness about the rich culture of Karbi tribe and foster harmony amongst the locals besides building a relationship with Army.
