On Friday, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister, expressed Assam’s dedication to playing a role in India’s progress, particularly by supplying various industries with trained professionals. During the opening ceremony of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) at Changsari, he remarked on the strengthened bond between the Northeast and the rest of India under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, which has inspired the region’s residents to increase their involvement in the nation’s development.

“Whether it’s improving health outcomes or providing skilled personnel for the pharmaceutical industry, Assam aligns with the prime minister’s vision and is dedicated to contributing to the nation’s progress,” he stated. He mentioned that the launch of the new permanent campus for NIPER marks a significant milestone in enhancing the healthcare framework within the state.
The opening of the new facility was officiated by the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya via a video call. Sarma noted that NIPER-Guwahati, initially established on the grounds of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital in 2008, has now relocated to its own permanent site, conveniently situated near AIIMS-Guwahati and IIT-Guwahati.
A nearby location will soon be home to a new branch of the National Forensic Sciences University, turning the vicinity into a key hub for significant healthcare and infrastructure institutions, he mentioned. He further emphasized that the establishment of these organizations will contribute to the advancement of the state’s workforce development.
Sarma observed the numerous medical initiatives taking place across the states in the area and stated, “Thanks to Prime Minister Modi’s efforts, the Northeast has been integrated into the mainstream and is developing an emotional bond with the rest of India.”
Significant progress is taking place every day in the area, sparking excitement among the residents to play a more active role in the development of the country. Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Bhagwanth Khuba was in attendance at the event.
