Huge quantities of heroin worth over Rs 28 crore in the international market have been seized and two persons were arrested by the police in this connection in Assam’s Bongaigaon district, police said on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, Kamrup police with the help of Bongaigaon police had launched an operation in Gerukabari area of the district late on Tuesday night and seized 4 kgs 900 gms of heroin from a bus.operating between Shillong and Siliguri.
Two persons who had allegedly boarded the bus at Rangiya with the drugs were also arrested during the operation.
The police claimed that the seized drugs were worth over Rs 28 crore in the international market.
The bus was operating between Shillong and Siliguri.
