An AI-generated and fabricated image of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is circulating on social media, prompting the Chief Minister’s Office to announce that a case has been registered against those responsible. The office said those involved in creating and sharing the image have been identified and warned that strict legal action would follow.
According to a statement from the CMO, the image has no basis in reality and was deliberately created to mislead the public and damage the Chief Minister’s reputation. The office described the dissemination of the fabricated content as a misuse of social media.

Legal proceedings have been initiated against those allegedly involved in producing and circulating the image, the CMO said. However, the statement did not provide details about the case, the individuals identified or the allegations made against them.
The CMO urged social media users to verify information before sharing or reposting it and warned against amplifying unverified or fabricated content. Those who have already circulated the image were advised to check its authenticity before posting it further.
