The preparations for the 2026 Assembly Elections gained momentum in Karbi Anglong as District Commissioner Shri Aranyak Saikia, IAS, along with the Superintendent of Police, Karbi Anglong, undertook a comprehensive inspection of Diphu Government College, one of the key venues expected to play a role in the electoral process.
His visit signaled the beginning of a series of administrative reviews designed to strengthen election management systems and ensure that all logistical arrangements meet the standards required for a smooth and credible election.
During his inspection, the District Commissioner reviewed the overall infrastructure of the college campus, assessing its suitability for use as a potential polling or counting centre. Factors such as accessibility, safety, space management, and support facilities were examined closely. The emphasis on on-ground evaluation highlights the administration’s intention to avoid last-minute lapses and promote a seamless experience for both voters and polling personnel.

Following the inspection, a crucial meeting was convened at the Circuit House in Diphu, where Sector Officers from all three Legislative Assembly Constituencies of Karbi Anglong—Diphu, Bokajan, and Howraghat were present. These officers form the operational backbone of the election machinery, and the meeting marked a significant step in aligning their roles with district-level strategies.
The discussions focused on reviewing preparedness levels across all sectors, with an emphasis on clarity of responsibilities and inter-departmental coordination. Sector Officers were briefed on streamlining communication channels, ensuring timely movement of polling teams, monitoring sensitive areas, and maintaining accuracy in voter-related data. The proactive review also covered contingency plans, including measures to address potential disruptions such as infrastructure issues, weather challenges, or law-and-order concerns.
