Guwahati: The officers of Guwahati Refinery have donated their half-day salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as a support to the state government’s efforts for carrying out relief measures in the flood affected areas of Assam. The sum of Rs. 8,16,457 has been donated by the officers of the Refinery as a symbol of their solidarity with the people of Assam in this hour of need.
The cheque for the amount was handed over to the honourable Chief Minister of Assam, Mr. Sarbananda Sonowal by Mr. S Manchanda, Executive Director, Guwahati Refinery at his office on 26th July, 2019. The Executive Director was accompanied by Mr. D Kapoor, CGM (Project), Mr. SP Baruah, CGM (TS&HSE), Mr. NK Chakraborty, CGM(T), Ms Anjana Baruah Sarma, CGM (HR) and the representatives of IOOA, Guwahati Refinery.
The state of Assam is currently affected by one of the worst floods of the decade. Rising level of river Brahmaputra and its tributaries due to incessant rain in the region have inundated most of the part of the state resulting huge loss of lives, livestock and damage of infrastructure and property.
