In a significant operation on February 23, 2025, law enforcement officials intercepted a truck at the Karagaon Checkpoint under the Khatkhati Police Station during a routine naka checking. The vehicle, bearing registration number AS01NC4927, was traveling from Dimapur towards Dillai when it caught the attention of the officers.

Upon conducting a thorough inspection of the truck, authorities discovered a total of 18 packets containing a jelly-like substance, which is suspected to be opium. The total weight of the confiscated substance amounted to 18.108 kilograms, cleverly concealed within the speedometer box of the vehicle. This discovery raises serious concerns about the ongoing drug trafficking issues in the region.
Following the seizure, the driver of the truck, identified as Sri Bijay Brahma, a 26-year-old resident of Khagrabari in the Baksa district of Assam, was promptly apprehended. Brahma, son of Niran Brahma, now faces serious legal consequences as authorities prepare to register a case against him for his involvement in this illicit drug operation.
The contraband was appropriately packed and sealed at the place of operation (PO) in accordance with legal provisions and in the presence of witnesses and government officials. This meticulous procedure underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to follow due process while tackling the escalating drug menace.
