Following the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, the National People’s Party (NPP) has officially withdrawn support from his administration, citing ineffective leadership in restoring peace to Manipur.

Sheikh Noorul Hassan, NPP’s Working President, announced the party’s decision and welcomed Singh’s resignation as a necessary move toward stabilizing the state. The NPP criticized Singh for his inability to manage the ongoing ethnic tensions and law and order issues that have fueled widespread unrest across Manipur.
Despite distancing itself from Singh, the NPP reaffirmed its allegiance to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the national level. Hassan underscored the party’s commitment to collaborating with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) within the NDA framework to address Manipur’s challenges and restore normalcy.
The political landscape in Manipur is poised for significant change as discussions around Singh’s successor and future governance strategies begin to take shape. Singh’s resignation has ushered in a period of transition, and stakeholders are exploring new leadership options to guide the state toward stability.
In response to the volatile situation, security measures have been heightened in Imphal to prevent any potential escalation of violence. The ongoing unrest underscores the urgency for effective governance and proactive measures to mitigate ethnic tensions and restore public confidence.
As political leaders deliberate on the path forward, efforts focus on formulating strategies that will restore peace and stability in the conflict-hit region.
The NPP’s withdrawal of support underscores the challenges faced by Singh’s administration and marks a pivotal moment for Manipur’s political future. As the state navigates its next steps, the emphasis remains on achieving a peaceful resolution and rebuilding trust among its diverse communities.
