In Sonitpur’s Rangapara, a baby elephant has been rescued after getting separated from its herd. Efforts by the forest officials to reunite the one-year-old calf with its mother have been unsuccessful so far. The young elephant, now at the Amaribari Forest Range Office, persistently cries out for its mother.

The Forest Department remains committed to attempting another reunion during daylight. Should this effort fail, the calf will be relocated to the Panpur Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Kaziranga for proper care and safety.
This ongoing situation highlights the challenges faced by wildlife officials in ensuring the well-being of separated animal calves while balancing the need to reunite them with their families.
