In a significant stride toward fostering entrepreneurship and self-reliance, the Karbi Anglong District Commissioner, Nirola Phangchopi, spearheaded a cheque distribution initiative under the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Assam Abhiyan (CMAAA) on Tuesday. Held in the dignified setting of the District Commissioner’s Office Conference Hall in Diphu, this event marked a pivotal moment for 38 budding entrepreneurs. These individuals, who were unable to attend the state-level distribution program on September 30 in Khanapara, Guwahati, received much-anticipated financial support.

The event witnessed the presence of several esteemed officials, including Melina Terangpi, the Additional Director of the District Industry & Commerce Centre (DICC), Karbi Anglong, who underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to nurturing local talent and building a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem. The CMAAA scheme, a visionary initiative by the Assam government, aims to empower unemployed youth by providing them with financial assistance and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, thereby generating employment opportunities across both rural and urban landscapes.
To date, the scheme has benefitted 606 entrepreneurs in the Karbi Anglong district alone, each receiving a cheque amounting to ₹75,000. This substantial financial backing is a testament to the state’s dedication to bolstering its rural economy and providing a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to thrive. The initiative is meticulously designed to cater to a diverse demographic, with eligibility criteria encompassing permanent residents of Assam aged between 28-40 for the general category and 28-43 for SC/ST/OBC categories. A registered bank account and the absence of outstanding loans are also prerequisites, ensuring that the financial aid reaches those most in need.
The CMAAA scheme aligns seamlessly with the Assam government’s broader strategy to invigorate the rural economy, reflecting a steadfast commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and helping the youth achieve self-reliance. This endeavor not only serves as a catalyst for economic growth but also instills a sense of empowerment and confidence among young entrepreneurs, encouraging them to contribute actively to their communities.
As the government continues to roll out such transformative initiatives, the ripple effects are expected to resonate far and wide, creating a more vibrant and dynamic economic landscape in Assam. The successful implementation of the CMAAA scheme is a beacon of hope for many, illustrating the powerful impact of targeted financial support and strategic planning in fostering sustainable development and prosperity.
