A tragic conclusion was reached in the search for a missing Shillong resident, Saumitra Chakraborty, 48, when his body was found floating in Umiam Lake on Saturday, September 21. Chakraborty had been missing since September 19 from his home in the Laban area of Shillong.
Local police reported the grim discovery in Umiam Lake, situated approximately 15 kilometers north of Shillong. Family members were urgently called to the location and confirmed the identity of the deceased.
Authorities have announced that a post-mortem examination is scheduled for Sunday in order to determine the exact cause of death. The circumstances surrounding Chakraborty’s disappearance and subsequent death are currently under thorough investigation.
