Tafazul Islam, the main suspect in the Dhing gang rape case, was pronounced dead following a strenuous two-hour rescue operation earlier today. The incident began at 4 am when Islam, who was under police custody, attempted to escape by jumping into a nearby pond. He made the desperate bid while being escorted by police to the crime scene for further investigation.

Faced with the possibility of Islam drowning, the police immediately initiated a search-and-rescue operation. After two painstaking hours, rescue teams retrieved Islam’s lifeless body from the pond. Islam had been apprehended on August 23 after an exhaustive investigation confirmed his involvement as the third perpetrator in the heinous gang rape.
Reacting to the escape and subsequent death of Islam, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized that the case’s suspects would face stringent measures. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to enforcing existing laws to handle such severe crimes effectively. Meanwhile, efforts to capture the two remaining at-large perpetrators persist.
This case has drawn considerable public attention, underscoring the urgent need for rigorous law enforcement and the safeguarding of justice for victims of such brutal crimes.
The search operation, the desperate escape attempt, and the broader implications of the case continue to be closely monitored by the public and authorities alike.
